The 24th Running of the Loch Johnson Invitational track meet at Cedar Shoals resulted in a huge win for the ACS Boys and a strong showing for the girls. The boys won the meet with 148 points, besting Oconee County (140), Clarke Central (106) Salem, Towers, Oglethorpe, Cedar Shoals and others. ACS was led by Clarke Byram who vaulted 15’07” - four inches better than the current Class A record. This moment was the highlight of the meet, with everyone stopping to watch the record vault.
Clarke Byram - 1st in Pole Vault
Simeon Simmons - 1st in the 100, 200, and anchoring the winning 4 x 1
Preston Darden - 1st in the 400 (50.6), 2nd in the 200
Johann Brink - 1st in the 800 and the 4 x 800 relay, PRs in the mile and 2 mile (4:34 & 10:49)
Hampton Ford - great performances in the Long and Triple Jump
Cody Lewis - “Team Eagle of the Day”. He rode his bicycle several miles to be at the meet before he ran the 400. No surprise in commitment from one of our team’s hardest workers.
Kiera Simmons - 1st in the 100 & 200
McKinley Smith - 1st in Pole Vault, good finish in both hurdles
Millie Smith - top 5 finishes in the 800 & Mile
Tatiana Pinder - top 10 finish in the 200
Kay Ellis - top 3 finishes in the Long Jump, 100 & 300 Hurdles
Presley Vaughn - 7th in the 300 Hurdles, good show in the open 100
March 2024 Opener:
Varsity Boys scored 237 points at the George Walton Bulldog Meet in front of 5a Loganville and Towers.
Simeon Simmons - 1st in the 100(11.10), 200, & 4x1 relay
Clarke Byram 1st in Pole Vault, 110 high hurdles (15.5), & 300 hurdles
Preston Darden - 1st in the 400, 3rd in the 200, & 1st with 4x1 & 4x4
Hamp Ford - 2nd in Long Jump, 4th in Triple & High Jump, and 1st with the 4x4
Johann Brink - 1st in the Mile and 800(2.02)
Christian Hubbard - 1st with the 4x4, good showing in High Jump & 300 Hurdles
Cherish Eric - 2nd in Triple Jump
Trey Bowleg - 3rd in Triple Jump, 1st with 4x1
Zack Atkins 1st in 2 Mile
