ALUMNI CONNECTION
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT : HEATHER PILLSBURY
Second-generation ACS alum and faculty member Heather Pillsbury recently announced plans for her newest recording project in collaboration with The Worship Coalition!
Heather is a graduate of the ACS class of 2007, where both her parents were graduates. While she was here, she was heavily involved in the music and theater programs and also sang The National Anthem for sporting events and graduation. She attended Truett-McConnell University, where she met her husband and current ACS Band Director, Nathan Pillsbury. She graduated from TMU with her Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2011.
She was on staff as a worship leader for many years and has led worship at several different large Christian retreats and events, including the Winter Jam “Pre Jam” in Atlanta.
Her stage experience includes a wide variety of vocal styles. Some favorite credits include being the featured soprano soloist for both Handel’s Messiah and Rutter’s Magnificat. She is heavily involved in local community theater, and the Athens music scene, and has also been a guest soloist for the Athens Symphony.
She has received several awards for her work as a vocalist and songwriter, including placing as a finalist in the National American Traditions Competition in 2012. She was named as Gospel Music Association Immerse Female Artist/Writer of the year in 2017 and presented at the Dove Awards in Nashville.
When she’s not songwriting, leading worship, or working in the studio, Heather teaches choral music and private voice at Athens Christian School. She and her husband have two children, Oliver (7) and Violet (3), who also attend Athens Christian, making them third-generation ACS students!
