LARRY JAMES MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

LARRY JAMES LEGACY

Larry graduated with honors with the Class of 1995, and attended Athens Christian School from 1992-1995. He is fondly remembered for not only his gentle giant meekness, but also for compiling some of the greatest career stats in the history of the school. Over his 4 years in high school, Larry set and still maintains the record for career points (2,843) and holds the single season record of 818 points as achieved in 1995. Larry helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-year total of 118 wins and only 14 losses, 2 GCAA State Championships, and a GISA State Runner-Up.

Larry continued his education at Emmanuel College and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration. He was a 4-year starter for the EC Lions, set 22 records, and finished as a 4-time NCCAA All American. He holds the career scoring record of 2,745 points and the rebounding record of 1,221. Larry was also recognized in college as an Academic All American, and became the first player at Emmanuel to have his uniform retired.

After college, Larry began his career at Jennings Mill in 2000, and in 2006 was appointed Head Golf Pro; he remained in this position until his sudden passing on February 16, 2018. Shortly after that time, Larry’s family set up scholarship funds in his honor at both Athens Christian School and Emmanuel College.
