Elementary Music Students in grades 1st through 5th have the opportunity to attend weekly music classes with their homeroom. Students will learn about instruments, music history, and the basics of music theory and reading music. Third and Fourth graders perform an annual Thanksgiving concert in November, and First and Second graders perform their Patriotic program in February.
Middle School Choir Students in the ACS Middle School Choir will learn the basics of reading music as well as sight singing and ear training. Students will prepare for and perform several concerts throughout the year including Christmas for the Family and the annual Spring Concert. The Middle School Choir is open to any student in grades 6th through 8th.
High School Choir Students will learn more in depth choral singing techniques and build upon previously learned sight-singing and ear-training skills.The repertoire for this choir is more difficult than previous choirs - a challenging opportunity for students as they prepare for their concerts which include a Fall Concert, Christmas for the Family, and the annual Spring Concert.
ACSI Choral Festival - Each spring semester, both Middle and High School Choirs, as well as soloists and small ensembles participate in the yearly ACSI Choral Festival. Each group prepares music in advance and performs before a panel of adjudicators.
GHSA Literary - An auditioned group of High School Choral students participate in the Georgia High School Association’s Literary Meet. Available opportunities are Women’s Trio, Men’s Quartet, Female Solo, and Male Solo. These groups prepare music in advance to be performed before a panel of judges. Winners at the regional level move on to the State Literary Meet.
Honors Chorus - An auditioned group of High School Choral students attend the North West Georgia Choral Festival at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. Students spend the day in choral clinics and rehearsals with festival clinicians and work toward an evening concert of college-level repertoire.
