FIRST MONDAY
ATHENS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
May, 2008
VISITATION DAYS
It was good to see many ACS parents and grandparents during the Visitation Days last week. I believe it was the largest number we have ever had. Thank you so much for coming. Your children and grandchildren were glad to see you. Thanks to all parents who helped with refreshments.
BOOK FAIR
The annual Book Fair was held in the Drama Center during these special days and was a popular place. It is great to be able to have these Christian-oriented books available to our ACS family. I believe it was a record setting year in the books that were purchased.
NEW APPLICANTS
We have already enrolled a good number of new students for next year, and we are showing new families through the school on a regular basis. More parents want to get their children in a Christian atmosphere that is conducive to learning. It is wonderful to be able to teach precious children and young people from a Christian world view, rather than from a secular and evolutionary world view, so prominent in the government schools.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
One of the main reasons that new families are coming to ACS is because you parents are great promoters for the school. Please continue to stay on the lookout for new families that you can introduce to ACS. Thank you, and God bless you.
JOG-A-THON/FUN DAY
Jog-a-thon and Fun Day venues brought in a total of $70,238, which will cover the cost of a new International bus that has already been ordered. Thanks to parents, students, teachers and friends for your part in making this annual event a very successful and profitable day.
THE MUSIC MAN
The Spring production of “The Music Man” had to be one of the best if not the best production ever at ACS. The Drama Center was sold out both nights and the cast rewarded all of us with a professional performance. Thanks for hard work by directors and cast.
CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to the ACS boys and girls track and field teams, both of whom won the tough Region 8-A championships held in Jefferson recently. This marked the fourth straight for the boys and 2 out of the past 3 for the girls. We are glad to report the girls won second place in the State last Saturday at Albany. Boys will go to state this week in Jefferson.
BASEBALL
Our boys are third in the region and will start state competition this week. Not sure yet when and where they will play.
SUMMER CAMPS
A large number of summer camps will be held at ACS during June and July. Information has been sent home about these camps. If you did not receive this information, please call the school office and we will mail it to you (706-549-7586).
LAST DAY
The last day of school will be Thursday, May 22. Students will be dismissed at 11:30.
COMMENCEMENT
High School Commencement will be held in Eagle Stadium on Saturday, May 17, at 8:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather the program will be held in the gym.
WE APOLOGIZE…
…for omitting a name from the Headmaster’s List in April’s “First Monday”. We congratulate Roderick Platt (1C) for making all A’s the 3rd quarter.
CONGRATULATIONS…
…to the ACS Yearbook staff, directed by Mrs. Debbie Bryant. They received an “Excellence” award from the publisher. Yearbooks will be coming out soon. Please support the businesses that place ads in the yearbook. We depend on these ads to help defray the cost of the yearbook each year.
FIRST DAY OF 39TH YEAR…
…will be Monday, August 11.
HAVE A PLEASANT AND
SAFE SUMMER
